Team TTL 2027 Year two Applications open October 1

Apply to Team TTL 2027

Year two

Last year we asked a simple question: what happens if you take the people who already show up for each other — in the comments, at the finish line, on the Tuesday group ride, who are living "That Triathlon Life" — and bring them together to give this thing it's own, official identity?

The answer was Team TTL. In its first year it turned into something we genuinely didn't plan for: athletes across 26 countries racing everything from their first sprint to pursuing Kona qualifying podiums, and making each other's training a lot more fun.

Applications are officially open again for 2027. Here's everything worth knowing before you fill one out.

A team, not a secret club

Team TTL isn't a pro squad and it isn't a closed room. It's a group of people who love this sport and are willing to be obvious about it — cheering for strangers, being friendly on rides, making the person at the back of the pack feel like they belong just as much as the one on top of the podium.

We still run all-comers events and we always will. The team just adds a jersey, early access to TTL product drops, sponsor discounts, an EPIC group chat, and instant connection around the world.

Tangible "perks" are listed below, but the mission and true value of TTL is community. Friends, connection, and a support network at any race, and on nearly every continent.

The Team TTL CHAT

A private feed for the team. Training talk, race reports, travel plans and the occasional bad joke. The fastest way to find someone to ride with in a city you've never been to.

Partner Discounts

Our partners put together deals through the year on the things you already buy. There is no pressure to do so, but we have a stacked list, and we hope it brings value to you and your goals.

24-hour early access

Every TTL race, camp and online hangout goes to team members before anyone else. Some of these sell out before the public ever sees them.

Team-issue gear

Kit designed for the team and never sold in the shop, plus the option to add extra team-issue pieces you won't find anywhere else. Technical and casual wear, we have you covered.

One Team, Two levels:

Team TTL

The main squad, and the beating heart of what we are at TTL. Community first: the app, the group chats, the meet-ups, the team kit, and a few hundred people who will happily talk about their training splits, favorite routes, highs and lows with you.

You set your own level. Do your thing. Race a lot, race once, or never pin a number on at all. Bring the vibes or soak em up.

TTL Racing Division

New for 2027, TTL Racing Division includes and builds on the TTL Devo Team, expanding to include overall age group winners, and those who have dedicated their time in the sport to SPEED.

Experience everything Team TTL is, but in the Racing Division colors, with additional support. This will be small, this will be fast, and we will be your biggest fans. (more info below)

Racing Division

New for 2027

Year one taught us the team splits into two vibes on its own. Plenty of people just want the community, the kit and a good time. A smaller group wants that but also...the top step.

The Racing Division is for that second group. Same team, same standards, separate lane - this is the 2027 reincarnation of the DEVO TEAM, with an expanded roster to include some top age group talent.

Support will be above and beyond Team TTL, and will be tiered based on past results. While this is for speed and glory, community and a deep love for the sport is still the core guiding value.

Maximum 15 athletes will be accepted, including 2-4 professionals.

How it works from here

The form below goes live. Take your time with it; we read every one.

October 15 — Applications close

The selection committee — Paula, Eric, Nick and Jordan — goes through them together.

Late October — Invitations go out

Acceptances arrive by email, with your Team Store link and login to follow a few days later.

Store, production, kit

The Team Store stays open about ten days after invitations. Production starts straight after so gear lands ahead of the 2027 season.

Full transparency, as always

We're finalizing what the 2027 gear packages will include and what they will cost. Details go out before anyone is asked to commit to anything — applying now doesn't lock you into spending any money.

From the 2026 team
I've always loved the vibe of TTL ever since it started. I loved the opportunity to be a part of that in the Team TTL this year. Best part by far is the community - the support, the sharing of experience and the overall positive energy and I really felt that as I raced with and was cheered on by fellow TTL at a local race this August.
— Walter
As an athlete who did triathlons growing up, I thought I couldn't participate in this field anymore other than as part of a relay, as I can no longer run due to several injuries.  I love the feeling of inclusion, positive energy, and support that TTL brings to the world.  It has been fun seeing other people in TTL gear and having that feeling of instant friendships. It was also really fun to cheer people on that were Team TTL while I volunteered at the Ironman race in Redding (I wore TTL gear even while volunteering).
— Emily
I was a little hesitant to sign up for Team TTL since I have always had to train REALLY hard to hit the middle of the pack (literally just ahead of 50%). Add on top of that I've been dealing with an injury with an unknown cause, and I thought I would feel super out of place. The encouragement, uplift, and cheering from the team has really helped me get through some of the dark moments where I felt like throwing in the towel and giving up. It really feels like the team has taken the TTL vibe that Eric and Paula have established and run with it.
— Mikaela
What I love most about Team TTL is how it seamlessly blends a passion for sport with a welcoming, authentic lifestyle. The community support is amazing, but nothing tops the energy of connecting with fellow team members at races. It truly feels like a family away from home, and I'm so proud to wear the kit!
— Robert
It has been a joy to connect with like-minded individuals through team challenges and conversations in the group page on the team chat. I have met several teammates in person at Oceanside and at a race. I love the energy and the common connection. I hope to meet more and get to continue building relationships and camaraderie on this team. There are so many inspiring people on this team, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
— Victoria

Join this team

There is something special about showing up at a race, looking around transition, and immediately spotting a familiar kit. Triathlon can be a notoriously lonely sport with early alarm clocks, solo trainer miles, and long weekends in your own head. Seeing how naturally everyone connected over this past year, setting up local group rides, cheering at finish lines, and filling our group chat with non-stop encouragement, was proof that this community is so much bigger than just a logo.

Team TTL FAQs

Application Note: Please set aside about 10 minutes to complete this application on a desktop computer for optimal formatting and accuracy.

Do I have to be a triathlete?

No. Plenty of members are runners, cyclists, swimmers, or people who just like being around this sport. You don't have to opt into the Racing Division — most of the team never pins on a number.

How fast do I need to be?

Not very. We have members chasing Kona slots and members training for a first 5k, on the same team, in the same group chat. The only real requirement is that you're good to be around.

What are the ground rules?

Two of them. Keep it a politics-free zone — we're here for fun, fitness and community, and there's a difference between sharing news and sharing vitriol. And zero tolerance for hate speech of any kind. That one is non-negotiable and means immediate removal from the team.

How much of my time does this take?

As much or as little as you want. Be a social-media butterfly, an occasional app lurker, or the person who turns up to meet new friends at a race. All three are normal.

How does the Team Store work?

Once you're accepted you get a private link and login. It stays open roughly ten days, then everything goes to production together.

Three rules: the store is for team members only, so please don't share the link or password; please don't order for people who aren't on the team; and hold off posting product photos, because the reveal is when the gear lands.

What about sizing?

Check the size charts, then check them again. Custom team gear can't be reordered, so we're not able to swap sizes once production starts. It's worth the extra five minutes.

Where do you ship?

Everywhere. Members in the USA and Canada get a flat rate. Everywhere else is priced by our mailing service and we're not able to adjust it, so international shipping can come out expensive — some members ship to a friend in the US instead. Keep the delivery timeline in mind if you do.

What if I change my mind?

No sweat, and no hard feelings. If the gear, the perks or the timing turn out not to work for you, email Jordan at jordan@thattriathlonlife.com and we'll pass the spot to someone else.

Who do I ask about everything else?

Jordan Bryden looks after the team — logistics, details, orders, all of it. A 20-year pro out of Canmore who retired from racing, now the person keeping this whole thing upright. jordan@thattriathlonlife.com.

See you out there

Thanks for considering it. Whether you end up on the team or not, we're glad you're part of this. Get out, get stoked.

— Eric, Paula, Nick + Jordan
