Paula and Kate Raced T100 Ibiza!
This past Sunday, Paula raced in her third T100 race of the season. It was also her third race in the past few weeks following Japan International Tri and UCI Time Trails. It's been an absolute whirl wind, but we've been loving every second of it from the mountains of Switzerland to the waters of Ibiza!
With the T100 Ibiza occurring right at the pinnacle of the triathlon season, competitors faced an added layer of unpredictability. Many athletes were uncertain of their capabilities or how their bodies would respond in an intense race amidst a dense portion of the year. For many athletes, including Paula, Ibiza was scheduled at the height of intense training and back-to-back races, including Kat Matthews and India Lee who both raced Ironman World Championships last weekend in Nice.
Paula finished the race in 5th place and finished in 15th in one of the most competitive fields of the season. The line up included: Star, Taylor Knibb, Olympic silver medalist, Julie Derron, 2020 Olympic Champion, Flora Duffy, and multi time T100 winner, Ashleigh Gentle.
It's fair to assume very few athletes felt fresh or were well rested heading into the race - making it any one's title to claim. It was a race defined by staying in the moment and maintaining control.
We will have a FULL, in depth race recap from Paula this week on the pod and in the upcoming YouTube Video! Until then, you can check out the most recent vid - Pt. 2 of our time in Zurich - on YouTube, or in the TTL App!
This week's show is a look at Paula Findlay's pre-race preparation in Zurich for the UCI Individual Time Trial World Championships, where she ultimately placed 18th place. Also included is a trail run by Eric at Mount Pilatus in the Swiss Alps, and a visit to ON international Headquarters in Zurich. Paula is a ON sponsored triathlete, so it was an awesome experience!
Be on the look out for the next video to see Eric's amazing coverage of the whole T100 race on the stunning shores of Ibiza.
