John Raced WTCS Hamburg!
This past weekend, John raced in the World Triathlon Championship in Hamburg, Germany. The competition at this prestigious event was fierce, hosting the top athletes from around the world. Representing Team USA, John continues to impress us by showcasing his elite capabilities as he held his ground against the fastest triathletes in the world. He was the first American to cross the finish line, securing 16th place overall, proving that he can compete with the best in the world on the biggest stage.
How intense are these races? Every second counts. The competition was so close that the podium athletes were separated by a mere 10 seconds. John finished just a minute behind the first-place winner, Matthew Hauser of Australia.
Such narrow margins highlight the high stakes and blistering paces of these races. The World Triathlon events are renowned for their intensity, drawing past, present, and future Olympians who give it their all in every race. The Hamburg race was no exception, showcasing the incredible dedication and athleticism required to excel at this level. You can see John tear it up and check out the full race and highlights here!
The day after the individual race, John, along with Morgan Pearson, Katie Zafares, and Erika Ackerlund, lined up to represent Team USA in the World Triathlon Mixed Relay event. The team put on a great show despite some soggy and slippery race conditions, finishing 9th amidst a stacked international field.
The mixed relay event can be a bit confusing. The WT / Olympic format differs from typical age group relays where three athletes each complete a single leg of a triathlon.
Elite mixed relay teams consist of four triathletes, two men and two women. Each athlete completes a short, super sprint-distance triathlon. The exact distances can vary, but they are usually around: 300 meters of swimming, 6.8 kilometers of cycling, and 2 kilometers of running. After completing their run, the athlete tags the next team member, who then begins the swim portion of their segment.
The mixed relays are always a blast to watch and Team USA absolutely crushed it! We have a feeling we'll be seeing John for the next Olympics in LA! Follow his incredible journey on Instagram @j.reed11!

Some Race Schedule Updates for Eric and Paula
Paula is having an incredible season! Earlier this week, she was named PTO’s Athlete of the Month for her performances in June! This well deserved recognition comes after her massive Canadian double championship winning 70.3 Mont-Tremblant hours after winning the Canadian Time Trial Championship. With over six races left on her schedule for the season, she announced that she is withdrawing from T100 London.
Paula's decision for this well-timed break underscores the importance of self-care and strategic planning in a demanding sport, especially for an athlete competing at her level! We look forward to seeing her strong and revitalized in the remaining races of the season!
Things look a bit different for Eric as he prepares for the High Cascades 100 Mile MTB race that takes place this weekend in Bend!
With the race just around the corner, Eric’s thoughtful approach and preparation is a testament to his experience and understanding of what it takes to compete at a high level.
This will be Eric’s second time taking on this race after finishing in 4th last year and we are stoked to see how his off-road training translates to the race! Here’s to a great race and seeing Eric send it!
Shred Til Bed 2: The Final Countdown! 🔥
STB2 is almost ready!
Last StB drop, we had more firey colors. This time, we’ll have the same print but with a cooler color palette originally presented to Nick by @dannydrawls. We’re stoked to be bringing it to life here in Bend, hand-screened by Jordy from @dazeprinting on the best paper, with Eco-friendly inks.
Jordy is a legend and we’re so pumped to be teaming up with him on this drop. Like last time, we’ll also have shirts, and while we did manage to make more of both shirts and posters (150), this is a limited run, and we still expect they’ll go fast 💨
Stay tuned for the launch date! You can check our instagram for the latest updates and teasers!
Stay stoked,
-Eric & Paula
